Salt & Light Foundation has been a supporter and partner of Global Equip Ministry in Brazil long before we registered our foundation. This ministry is run by Paul and Ashley Perry and they work with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) to bring kids from the slums for weekend camps on their ranch where they live. These discipleship adventure camps are real treats for the kids as they enjoy sumptuous meals, nature, the sharing of God's word and God's love. Through jungle activities, they also learn discipline, respect, perseverance and courage.

DOUGLAS – EXPERIENCING LOVE AND NATURE

12- year-old Douglas was brought to Paul and Ashley’s Living Stones Ranch by missionaries at a YWAM house in Cafezal, the third largest slum in Brazil. Douglas shared that one of his best takeaways during his stay at the Living Stones Ranch was experiencing the love of Jesus through Paul, Ashley and the staff.

Many children like Douglas live in uncertain conditions and spend their time on the streets and have little access to healthy leisure activities. During the camps, they get to trek, rappel and swim, experiencing nature for the first time. Ashley ensures these kids are able to eat to their hearts’ content. During their short stay, many of these children open up about their struggles to the ministry staff and many also experience the peace and love of God.

The impact on the children is unimaginable as they can return home, knowing there is a God who cares for them and believing that they have a future.

After the camps, YWAM house continues to follow up with the children.

A THANK YOU NOTE

- Michele and Romeu, YWAM missionaries in Brazil

"On behalf of Project Lamalma (Love mud and soul in Portuguese), my husband and I greatly appreciate your generous gift received through the hands of Ashley and Paul. A small part of these resources could already be applied in the camp we had this past weekend. Girls from Cafezal, the largest conglomerate of slums in the city of Belo Horizonte, could hear more of the Gospel of Christ, eat nice food, enjoy nature and relationship. And many more will come! Offerings like these motivate us and remind us that we are not alone, and that the kingdom of God is raised up by many hands. With grateful hearts, we would like to thank you again for the vision and movement on behalf of our precious children in the slums and underserved communities."
